Christian Rock and Roll - Part 13
Isn't it better for Christians to listen to Christian rock than Secular rock?
The problem with this argument is that if young people do not listen to Christian Rock then they will automatically listen to secular rock. Assuming the ONLY choice young people have is rock music!
But there is more music than rock. . .
Why limit the choices to only rock?
And I know hundreds of young people who play and listen to music - and they hate rock music!
And I know hundreds of people who previously listened to rock music, both Christian rock and secular rock, that now only listen to good Christian music. And they have no desire to listen to rock!
Testimonies of young people and rock music.
Not every young person listens to rock music - secular or Christian .
The question itself, "Isn't it better for our young people to listen to Christian Rock than secular rock?", implies that something is "wrong" with Christian rock - just not as "wrong" as secular rock. . .
So we provide them the "lesser of two evils".
It's the "same 'old' philosophy of the world:
We know young people are going to have sex; "Isn't it better for our young people to know about and have access to condoms to protect them from AIDS?". Hey! I've get a great idea - why don't we teach them that sex before marriage is wrong - and AVOID it?
We know women are going to have abortions; "Isn't it better to make abortions legal and provide "safe" abortions?" Hey! I've get a great idea -why don't we teach and show them what really happens during an abortion and provide adoption options?
And that "lesser of two evils" philosophy is completely contrary to the word of God:
1 Peter 1:15 -16 "But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."
The God of the Bible, is a God of absolutes. He wants you "with" Him or "against" Him.
Matthew 12:30 "He that is not with me is against me; . ."
God wants you "hot" or "cold". The Lord Jesus Christ makes this stern warning against "lesser of two evils" or "luke-warm" Christians in Revelation:
Revelation 3:15-16 "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth."
