After the Tribulation

In this document we want to define the time right after the tribulation as related to the Bible.  As with the previous studies, we will try to stick to the facts and not deviate from what the Holy Scriptures have to say. This document will not address anything outside of scripture or try to match the current events to a key point in the Bible.

Immediately after the Tribulation the Battle of Armageddon explodes and Jesus Christ returns as promised. At this time there are about only half of the people left on the earth as there was just seven years before.

God Himself will cause those that are left on the earth to gather together in the plains of Meggido as mentioned in Revelation 16:16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

This is repeated a number of times through out the Bible Zechariah 14:2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Take notice here that God says all nations, this means that all of the nations that are present on the earth at the time of Jesus' second coming will be gathered together to do battle with Israel. This would include the United States if it still exists at this point and time.

Joel 3:2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

That great and terrible day of the Lord is at hand, we are told in Zephaniah 1:14 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. We find here that even the mighty men will quake in fear at the soon return of the LORD.

Reading in Isaiah we are given more detail to the state of man right before the coming of Christ. Isaiah 13:6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. (7) Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt: (8) And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. Man will not be his normal belligerent self.  No one can stand before God with out falling down before the Mighty God who created Heaven and earth.

Isaiah 13:11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

Here is a more detail account of the hearts of man right before the return of God.

Isaiah 2:19 And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
Isaiah 2:20 In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;
Isaiah 2:21 To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
Man will try to flee the wrath to come but will find no place of comfort or no way of escape.

All know that the return of the LORD is near we are told in
Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. Those that are left will know that their rebelling against the LORD of hosts is about to end, they know that their time is very near.

What will it be like right before the coming of the Lord?

Isaiah 13:10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. This is straight forward. Although we are not told why the sun is darkened and the moon won't shine, it is very possible that the events leading up to this point has had an affect on the atmosphere.

This is reiterated in Matthew, Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: (30) And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Luke 21:26 ...the powers of heaven shall be shaken.  These will be grievous times.

Here we are told again that everybody will be expecting the return of the LORD. They will be fearful knowing that they are going to face GOD in all of his glory.  We are told that God had drawn the people to Armageddon to punish them for what they have done to God's chosen people the Jews. Revelation 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; (16) And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: (17) For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. The battle of Armageddon is at hand!

Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
