Christian Versus Jehovah Witness

Christian Jehovah
The doctrine of the Trinity is Biblically based. (Matthew 28:19; John 14:26; John 15:26; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 Peter 1:2) There is no Trinity - Let God be True, p. 100-101; Make Sure of All Things p. 386.

"Never was there a more deceptive doctrine advanced than that of the trinity" (Reconciliation, 1928 )
"...sincere persons who want to know the true God and serve him find it a bit difficult to love and worship a complicated, freakish-looking, three-headed God" (Let God Be True, 1946)

"Satan is the originator of the trinity doctrine" (Ibid.)

The Holy Spirit is not impersonal. (John 14:26; John 16:13 ; Acts 10:19)

The Holy Spirit is God's impersonal active force - The Watchtower, June 1, 1952, p. 24

Jesus is the Creator not a created being. (John 1:1-3; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Colossians 1:15-17) Jesus was Michael the archangel who became a man, Jehovah's first creation was his 'only-begotten Son' and was used by Jehovah in creating all other things - Aid to Bible Understanding, pp. 390-391. The Watchtower, May 15, 1963, p. 307; The New Word, 284.

Jesus did rise in Body. (Luke 24:36; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8;John 20:24-29)

did not rise from the dead in his physical body - Awake! July 22, 1973, p. 4.
Jesus was crucified on a cross. (John 19:17-19 ; 1 Corinthians 1:18)

Jesus did not die on a cross but on a stake - The Truth Shall Make You Free, p. 300.

Whoever believes that Jesus is Lord will be saved. (John 3:16 John 14:4-6; Romans 3:23-26)

Only their church members will be saved - The Watchtower, Feb. 15, 1979, p. 30.
All who deny Jesus as Lord will one day know first hand there is a Hell. (Matthew 25:41; Mark 9:44; Rev. 1:17-18; 20:10, 14-15; 21:8)

There is no hell of fire where the wicked are punished - Let God be True, p. 79, 60.
who believe that Jesus is Lord will enter into Heaven. (John 14:1-5, 23; Matthew 16:19)

Only 144,000 Jehovah's Witness go to heaven - Reasoning from the Scriptures, 1985, pp. 166-167, 361; Let God be True, p 121.
Ephesians 1:17, 18 states that the Spirit will provide wisdom and illumination to the revelation of God in the Bible. According to the belief espoused by JW's, all people that lived until the JWs were Founded by Charles Russell must have been doomed to failure, not being able interpret the Bible. "...the Bible is an organizational book and belongs to the Christian congregation as an organization, not to individuals, regardless or how sincerely they may believe that they can interpret the Bible...the Bible cannot be properly understood without Jehovah's visible organization in mind" (Watchtower, October 1, 1997, p. 587).

Michael, on his own, could not rebuke Satan (Jude 1:9), yet in Mark 9:25 Jesus Himself rebukes Satan. Hebrews 2:5 says an angel can't rule the world, but Luke 1:32-33 and Revelation 19:16 show Jesus Christ to be the one who will reign. Therefore, Jesus and Michael can't be one and the same.

"Read carefully the following Bible account: 'War broke out in heaven: Michael [who is the resurrected Jesus Christ] and his angels battled with the dragon'" (You Can Live Forever in Paradise on Earth, 1982, p. 21).
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
In the JW version of the Bible, John 1:1 says, "In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was a god." [emphasis added] "...that is the Word was a powerful godlike one. Clearly, Jesus is not Almighty God." (Ibid., p. 40).

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
"To get one's name written in that book of life will depend on one's works, whether they are in fulfillment of God's will and approved by his Judge and King." (Watchtower, August 15, 1972).
Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
"The Bible shows that only a limited number of persons, a 'little flock,' will go to heaven...The rest of faithful humankind will live on earth as the subjects of these rulers" (Watchtower, February 15, 1984)

This obviously flies in the face of the JW claim that they are monotheistic. Isaiah 43:10 and 1 Timothy 2:5 are but two of many verses that confirm there is only One God. To claim we will become gods is blasphemy. "...we are begotten of a divine nature...Jehovah is thus our father...we are divine beings - hence all such are Gods...Now we appear like men, and all die naturally as men, but in the resurrection we will rise in our true character as Gods" (Watchtower, December 1881, 1919 repr.).

The "fiendish" concept of hell actually comes from the Bible, not from a slanderer. (Matthew 25:46, Revelations 14:11, 19:20, and 20:10). "The fiendish concepts associated with a hell of torment slander God and originate with the chief slanderer of God (the Devil)" (Reasoning from the Scriptures, 1985).

Revelations 1:7 makes it clear that when Jesus returns, we'll know it!! He won't do so invisibly. This is one of many false prophecies the JW organization has had regarding the end of the world and coming of Christ. "...Bible evidence shows that in the year 1914 C.E. God's time arrived for Christ to return and begin ruling...Christ's return invisible...Christ himself gave a visible 'sign' by which we may know that he is invisibly present...'NATION WILL RISE AGAINST NATION'...Surely you have seen this part of the 'sign' being fulfilled since 1914! In that year World War I began" (You Can Live Forever In Paradise on Earth )

The Bible makes it very clear that no one knows the time of when Jesus will appear

Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

This group's "prophets" predicted that: 1874 would be the year of the invisible Second Coming of Jesus; the world would end in 1914, then in 1975, and later in 1984; all members of the Body of Christ would be changed to heavenly glory in 1925; and, World War II was Armageddon.
The soul ceases to exist after death.

For many years it was taught that Blacks were that color as a result of God's curse on Canaan.

Lying is part of "theocratic war strategy." A Jehovah's Witness can lie to someone if they are not entitled to know the truth.

Periodically Jehovah's Witness doctrine will change. This is known as "new light."
